A lot has been happening within the past few days. I recieved the copies of As A Matter Of Fact back from the duplicator, and they look great. I've also gotten the reprints of The Distance Between, and they have been improved (with a For The Records logo, as well as the bar code finally on the artwork.) After a few album assembly parties, the albums are put together, and are ready for the record release party.
The record release party will be on Sunday March 25th, 2007 at 7PM at the Pisces Cafe in Babylon. It should be quite the show, as it'll be the first performance in a while.
Also, the latest version of www.mattjasper.com has been updated by Amanda, and is now fully functional. Be sure to check out all of it's features if you have purused the site by now.
On the Reverbnation front, I have been teetering around in the 30s in the South By Southwest contest, which ends on February 20th. On February 20th at midnight the contest ends, and it seems like there is a likely chance that I'll be listed as a finalist. I'd like to thank everyone for their ongoing support in playing the tunes, as well as becoming a fan. If you haven't become a fan, feel free to do so. Within a half of a month, I've gotten nearly 50 fans, many of you who are new, and I'm grateful for that. I'll keep you all posted when the SXSW contest is complete. I also will be a featured artist on Reverbnation's main page next week, so be on the lookout for my mug on the home page.
In other news, I'll be in San Diego next week, on a much deserved vacation. It should be a nice rest before the craziness of an album promotion swing kicks in. I'll be sure to post some pictures when I get back.
Keep on rockin,
Matt

So this is the section for Matt Jasper news, rants, this and that, as well as internet blog. I suppose I shall post some ramblings from time to time, as well as keep everyone in the loop as far as what's going on (as Marvin Gaye might say).
As this is the first post, I feel the need to catch everyone up to speed. Within the next few days, www.mattjasper.com will have a sleek new makeover. After meeting with top fashion consultants, raiding wardrobes, and fussing over my hair, I decided to get a well qualified web designer to do the work. Be on the lookout for a post announcing the arrival of the new site.
The reason for the new site, besides looking pretty, is because a new album is on the way. As A Matter Of Fact will be released in early March, with a Long Island record release party soon to follow. The record will be put out on For The Records, a new label independently run by Matt Jasper, with the help of some friends.
In addition to As A Matter Of Fact, there will be a simultaneous rerelease of the 2004 album The Distance Between through For The Records. The Distance Between had been out of print since 2005, so this is pretty exciting to release it back into the wild. However, physical copies of that record can currently still be found online at www.cdbaby.com/jaspermusic
Both albums are also available for download in the Snocap music store. (The Snocap store can be found on this site, or at www.myspace.com/jasper or www.reverbnation.com/mattjasper ) As of now, the Snocap store is the only place to find downloads of As A Matter Of Fact. The Distance Between can also be found on various digital download sites (a full list can be found on the music page). I encourage you to purchase downloads from the Snocap store, because during the month of February, each download purchased enters me in a drawing for a chance to go to South By Southwest.
However, this is not the only contest for South By Southwest, Austin Texas' annual independent music festival, held in March. I'm currently in the running for Reverbnation's SXSW contest, and can use all the help I can get in that contest. Each person who becomes a fan (and uploads a picture) on my reverbnation page gives me 50 points towards the leaderboard. Song plays and profile views also give out points, so visit www.reverbnation.com/mattjasper often and play some of the songs from that music player. Sharing the music from the tunepacks also help the cause.
I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone who has been signing up as a fan on the reverbnation page. It's a big help to spread the word on the music, as well as the shows, and every fan is appreciated. With your help I've ranked up the leaderboard to be #43 out of over 700 contest applicants. So thank you for all of your help! If you can tell at least one friend about the page, and get them to sign up, it would be greatly appreciated. Have them listen to a tunepack, and sign up if they like what they hear.
Once again, thanks for listening, and reading, and I'll be in touch!
-Matt
